Going back in time to Yellow 6's first full-length effort, 'Catherine Whiskey 18' is referred to as an EP but at over 70 minutes in length it surely qualifies as an album. The opening track 'Clay' is as ethereal as any of Cocteau Twins' mid-80s prolific period whilst the 20-minute plus 'Leitmotiv#5' is a stunning piece of music that also features as a cut down version on 'Overtone', here though its extended drum-loop outro makes it superior. Even though one could argue that this music is just chill-out material its apparent ambivalence is quietly hypnotic bearing the hallmark of essential electronica/post-rock.
