Recorded at Gloucester Guildhall in November 2001 to commemorate seven years of Ochre Records, these live recordings from Yellow6 and Avrocar were regarded as the most impressive sets of the Ochre7 event. And what fine recordings they are: the ultra-prolific Jon Attwood alongside the comparatively sloth-like Avrocar. Perhaps the latter's recent inactivity makes them the prize catch on this CD. The metronomic precision and reverberation of 'The Slow Mirror' or the stunning, sinister soundscapes of 'Soo Claxae' are enticing enough but between them is a surprising cover version of the Go-Go's 'Our Lips Are Sealed' with the original's cool, girly pop given a narcoleptic, electronic makeover; the cool factor very much intact though. Yellow6 live sounds largely similar to the Yellow6 albums. Still, 'Badwater' has a kick to contrast the soporific 'Sonoluminescence' and the stealthy undulations of 'Halflife' is another highlight. Both groups remain reasonably unheralded but their consistent quality will surely win through eventually.
