Darlings Of The Day is a collaboration between London-based musician James Goddard and resident Californian Sterling Mire on vocals. Together they make a very marketable form of independent rock that treads a thin line between Blondie and the rather less cherishable Roxette. Although sold as an EP, it's feasible that each one of the four tracks on 'Get Burned' could be released as a single and they certainly know how to create the requisite pop hooks. Those looking for a bit more substance should investigate the title track which features Mire's best throaty rock vocals and Goddard's guitar melody has a satisfying depth. The rest is good but in an easy-on-the-ear throwaway sense. Nevertheless this duo have the looks and the tunes to work their way towards the top of the charts.
