Models Of Virtue E.P.

Album Reviews
The name may well be unfamiliar to most but the partnership of bass player/vocalist Evie Evil and drummer Gene Trautmann certainly does not lack experience. Whilst Evie can call on over a thousand live appearances, Trautmann's CV includes a 30-month stint in Queens Of The Stone Age. Given the absence of a guitarist or a keyboard player, 'Models Of Virtue' is undeniably strong on rhythm and understandably based on a lo-fi, buzzsawing rock approach; doubtlessly influenced by The Stooges and other flagbearers for the no-frills style. However, Evil Beaver also write better tunes than could be expected; 'Evil Deceivin' and 'Under The Gun' in particular, are alive with pop-melody and stop-start dynamics. So, as their name might suggest, this duo make music which is dirty, sleazy and surprisingly fun.
