Every Man And Woman Is A Star

Album Reviews
The sleevenotes sum it up perfectly: "Music for the mind floats you gently downstream, through pleasurable twists and turns". And so goes the story of Ultramarine's second album; a blend of subtle electronic beats, field recordings and folk music. It is a far more soporific effort than the less chill-out friendly 'Folk'. Definitely a record to sit back and close your eyes to, the tracks meld together but each contain their own little unique melodies; whether it's light funk on 'Saratoga', trance on 'British Summertime' or even dub on 'Geezer', Ultramarine prove to be a master of all trades. At the time their thunder was stolen by the likes of Orbital and The Orb. Ten years on, now is the time for a reassessment.
