By 1985's '7 Day Weekend' any artistic integrity they had was all but forfeited in a last ditch bid for popularity. The album is pretty awful by anyone's standards and its only saving grace is 'You Move Me'; the sole indication that they used to be more than adept in building up some sense of intensity and urgency. Elsewhere, though, it's all forgettable, pompous choruses with any semblance of an addictive guitar line drowned out by characterless female backing vocals and cheap keyboard effects, de rigeur in the mid-80s. Worryingly, listening to tracks as execrable as 'Forever Young' and 'Believe It' conjures up nightmarish images of Brat Pack movies and mullets but thankfully they recovered to produce the terrific 'My Mind's Eye' six years later; remember them for that and their earlier work rather than this tripe.
