September Collective

Album Reviews
Possibly the least assuming "supergroup" to have ever been assembled, September Collective comprises the German duo Barbara Morgenstern and To Rococo Rot's Stefan Schneider as well as Polish ex-punk rocker turned electronica artist Paul Wirkus. This first mini album from the trio is a work of finely crafted electronica consisting of ten pieces that add up to a mere half hour's listening. The repetitive ambient qualities of 'Some Of These Days' and 'Cirkeln' demonstrate more than a working knowledge of Brian Eno's work but it's on centrepiece 'The Return' where they truly find their forte; a dizzying melody glides along a bed of jazzy textures, warm keyboard washes and bubbling electronica. Without ever threatening to set the world alight, the participants have made a pleasurable record, each member offering their own slant on the instrumentals without ever seeking to dominate affairs.
