Angie Giles and her nephew Patrick create post-club anthems which conjure up not only the images of their Miami Beach base but the songcraft of another family affair, namely The Other Two AKA Stephen Morris and Gillian Gilbert from New Order. Like them, they prove to be a match made in heaven thanks to Angie's soul diva vocals and Patrick's quest for heavenly melody. Granted, this isn't a record to set a new musical agenda - Life Project's sound could actually have existed in the 1990s - what they do have, though, is an emphasis on songwriting amongst the beats and synths. 'Are You Ready?' dabbles in drum and bass, the chugging beats of 'High Life' recall Simply Red's 'Fairground' whilst 'Breath Of Life' is downbeat and chilled. Predominantly, though, their music is of the uplifting and dreamy variety ('Life Is The Messenger' and 'Laws Of Love' being particularly excellent). It is with these songs that Life Project prove that a genuine sense of optimism can be very infectious indeed.
