On the back of good recommendations from respected DJs such as BBC Radio 1's Rob Da Bank and Huw Stephens, 'Bong 93' is the second EP released by Dogmixer. Whilst it would be wise to avoid describing him as an artist of fine pedigree, Matt Watts has certainly cultivated an interesting sound, which rides on the influences of the electronica stars of yore but also sounds futuristic thanks to a busy musical approach and a thirst for sci-fi atmospherics. This idea is best explored on 'Who Are You?'; the title repeated as a sample throughout the track as a mixture of breakbeats and chilly melody build up an aura of paranoia. Lifecycle's percussion-heavy mix of 'Bong 93' also impresses. Yet overall, it's a solid performance all-round even if Watts isn't covering any new ground here.
