2 By Bukowski are a Greek instrumental group who have released recordings on the same labels as Yellow 6 in the past. 'What A Long, Strange Journey This Has Been' is their debut long player. The opening 'Buckle Up Scully...'drifts along like an ancient sea boat, crawling along at a glacial pace but sooner or later one can detect there is danger round the corner; oddly, it then reminds the listener of Kraftwerk (perhaps an aquatic version of 'Autobahn') before, inevitably, the aggessive guitars arrive to bring the serenity to an abrupt halt. 'ZAGADKA' is Russian classical music battling against cymbal crashes but best of all is '8 Steps Of The Crane And The Snake' as a throbbing bass line accompanies a multitude of keyboard effects to gloriously atmospheric effect. Sadly, 'Solution: Sarrus' probably outstays its welcome a little on its simplistic theme that runs for far too long. That negative comment aside, this is an uncompromising, inventive collection that should satisfy those who enjoyed Rothko's similarly-styled 'In The Pulse Of An Artery'.
