Never ones to take the obvious route, Black Moth Super Rainbow retreated to a cabin in Western Pennsylvania to record their latest oddity; with inspiration taken from some of their own folklore. Whilst certain parallels can be drawn to their previous releases - not least the primary colour sound effects and brash electronic beats - this record is noticeably darker in tone. A trippy kind of psychedelia is apparent on 'Drippy Eye' and 'Flowers Grow Here', cymbals are unceremoniously thrashed on 'Caterpillar House' and the likes of 'They Live In The Meadow' offer an eerie glimpse of the space-age future as it was probably imagined in 1980. Granted, BMSR still bear comparisons to Boards Of Canada and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop but where once the themes sounded almost childish, now only darkness remains.
