The pride of Essex team up on this impressive EP on Enraptured Records. First up are Beatglider; influenced by Pavement, they also inject their alt-rock with layers of post-shoegazer dreaminess. 'The Rattlesnake' is a gorgeous slice of melancholia; doleful yet soulful it shares an ambition and emotional depth to ally them with the recent Great Depression album. Meanwhile, Shinri feature members of Junkboy and it shows, particularly on the restrained, pastoral noises of 'Corn Fields' whilst 'Sever' is more directly melodic in a West Coast way. Four excellent tracks by two very promising bands which leave you thirsting to hear more.
