Like a subtler Grandaddy, Audio Out Send's debut LP '...Or Does It Explode?' revelled in a world of odd subject matter and endearing dreamlike arrangements. 'A Broad Connection' is intended to be the first in a series of EPs by the California act and, if anything, it's even subtler and more muted than before. Whilst sometimes the music drifts by too easily, great moments still occur. 'Oakland Seas' is a lonely country lament but its eerie, experimental touches seem beamed in from the future. Similarly, 'Feeding Tape' is comforting but also colourful and optimistic. Overall, they're probably a bit too timid to draw in the Flaming Lips crowd but Audio Out Send certainly deserve a fair hearing.
