Adventurous listeners usually investigate the bands who push the boundaries of music just that little bit further. Illinois act Walter Meego certainly fall under this category. Their outlook mixes up the core ingredients of electronica, hip-hop, rock, soul and ska but still manages to conjure up a recipe that is abundant with song-based melancholic flavours. Each of the five tracks has something to recommend it but it's all topped off by the desperate longing of the final track. Coming across as the offspring of 'Odelay'-period Beck and experimental miserablists Hood, Walter Meego have found a sound that is challenging, emotive and tremendously addictive.
