It will surprise no one that an EP entitled 'Proper Position For Floating [1881}', featuring tracks called 'One' to 'Four' is yet another addition to the apparently humourless post-rock scene. Una Corda, based in Birmingham, veer towards the heavier side of the genre with 'One' even settling more into prog-rock territory. 'Two' and 'Three', however, tread a richer, more melodic strand of music featuring cleverly-structured guitar patterns and watertight rhythms. Comparisons with Mogwai are bound to be made but whereas that Scottish act have dropped their standards at least Una Corda offer reminders of how good they used to be as well making some decent music of their own accord.
