Everyone thought that the combination of two of the biggest heroes of 80's music, Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr (plus another occasional member in Neil Tennant) was too good to be true. However, their first album was as good as it should have been but the second album, 'Raise The Pressure' was disappointing although still an above average electro-rock album nonetheless. 'Twisted Tenderness' is more of the same which makes it even more disappointing. The main problem with the album is that it is over-cluttered with modern arrangements and it is a struggle listening to identify any recognisable tunes amidst the clutter. Oddly enough, the most addictive song on the album, the title track, still sounds rather cheap and dated but in a good way. Maybe they should go acoustic?
