Rarely has a band thrown so many ideas in to such a short space of time. Switches' 'Lay Down The Law' covers four tracks in a mere nine minutes but it's the variety on show which really impresses. First up is the Franz Ferdinand-style title song, 'Solid Gold' sticks to a great groove but its harmonies are straight from 10cc's heyday. 'I've Got A Problem' squeezes a George Formby cockney knees-up and a bubblegum chorus into a mere ninety seconds. Then heavenly harmonies are on the menu again for the finale 'She'll Push Me Away'. Oddball and excellent.
