Colin Welsh's musical upbringing began on his elder brother's ZX Spectrum. From this primitive foray, Welsh has clearly progressed into something far more sophisticated. 'Warmed' is the tangible result; a melodic electronica album which is full of the kind of quirky glitches one almost expects nowadays.
Although Four Tet is named as an influence, on the likes of 'Live Long' the twists and turns are often so dramatic, Funkstorung is a closer resemblance. Then on 'Harfeda', the thick beats are introduced at trip-hop pace before gradually picking up at the usual techno level. 'Bleeder' takes a cooler, moodier approach and is one of the more atmospheric (and therefore better) offerings. Although always pleasant, some tracks drift by a little too easily but this is another example of intelligent and - of course - warm techno from a lesser know artist.
