David Steinhart is a 39 year-old singer songwriter with a penchant for uplifting melodic rock. If, on the face of it, that doesn't sound too promising then those who persevere will be suprised to find a delightful album packed full of strong tunes. Admittedly this music is not groundbreaking; it bears uncanny resemblances to the English innocence of early-80s stalwarts such as Haircut One Hundred and The Lotus Eaters on 'Summer Confession #12' and 'Good Sense'. The jangling guitars are the dominant feature on just about every song but the strong chorus of 'It's A Sign' is probably the standout. Having not heard any of the artist's previous work it's hard to say whether this is an excellent injury-time recovery or a continuation of his songwriting skills but judging this album in standalone form it is a convincing soundtrack for the summer months.
