In 2005, a new artist named Motodestra brought out a lovely album of electronic guitar instrumentals, whose summery, fragrant tunes made it one of the highlights of the year. In 2006, the good news is that little has changed in the world of the man who made it, Daniel Halliday; for those Durutti Column-like passages and images of pastoral wonder remain, only now the material is acoustic and recorded under the moniker of Pictureville. Strings are also employed; not in an intrusive way but just enough to support the wistful nature of the four tracks on show here. Throughout it's never less than impressive with the melancholic Midnight Cowboy stylings of 'Faint Falls' just edging it as the most beautiful moment.
