The new release from Lake Lustre is representative of an artist with a colouful and varied background. Joe Scerri began DJing with post punk and electronica in the mid 80s, dabbled in noise guitar and synth bands before spending time producing visual and audio art exhibitions. 'Indecipherabilia' engages in many styles over the course of eight tracks starting with the imposing shoegazing/trip-hop hybrid that is 'Skyscraping', a style which will be familiar to those who enjoyed the last Phobos 3 album. 'Dragonfly Museum' is anthemic chill out, there are diversion into Spanish dance ('Dusky') and drum and bass ('Soulace') whilst 'Cul De Sac' - featuring guest vocalist Peta Morris - is a cool club classic tune. Without ever setting the world alight there's a fluent vibe throughout making this a fine record to relax with beyond the midnight hour.
