Freemaker EP

Album Reviews
"Dynamic, melodic and anthemic" is how the press release describes Freemaker and doubtless several other new bands hungry for success. Yet in the case of this Liverpool-based band it's an accurate statement; proved by recent support slots with Echo And The Bunnymen. On this three track EP, Freemaker give a spirited account of themselves, although it has to be said they do sound like a number of other Northern Britain acts. They do, however, boast a strong vocalist in Andrew Metcalfe and their twin guitar attack is aggressive but well controlled. It is the final song where these elements are showcased to their best effect; on 'The Wire', Metcalfe even sounds like The Walkmen's Hamilton Leithauser. So if they can become as intriguing as that NYC band, that really would be something
