Canadian-born Erin Lang is a new voice on the female singer/songwriter scene and one with a colourful past. With a puppeteer mother and a father formerly a member of a Canadian rock band, it could be fair to say she has a good grounding in the entertainment industry and - on this preview to a soon-to-be-released album - ex-Cure keyboard player Roger O'Donnell is on hand for production duties. Vocally Lang employs an understated near-whisper which draws comparisons with Anja Garbarek. 'Til Then' is tastefully arranged but Lang brings in an air of eeriness, the trick works again on 'Lightning' as she employs her skills over some languid instrumentation. Meanwhile, 'You're Coming Home' features a strong chorus and the drum sound on the remix of 'Happy To See You' is about as heavy as this music gets. Yet despite such a seemingly unassuming start, Lang is clearly developing a name for herself as a performer of quiet intensity.
