There must have been a few hundred artists whose press releases compare them to Jeff Buckley or Coldplay. Usually the end result is disarmingly inaccurate but in the case of Geoff Ereth the similarities are actually well deserved. 'Sleepwalking' is a mere EP of course but the signs within offer confidence that he could produce an album's worth of his fine material. 'Colors' is a super start and a showcase for his vocals which vary effortlessly between the high and low registers but achieving it in a way without ever appearing to be showy. Importantly there's also a good tune there, as is the case with 'Fairytale'; probably the strongest offering thanks to Ereth's lilting guitar melody. Ereth's songs are generally optimistic in tone which is quite refreshing for an independent singer-songwriter although the moodier, hand-wringing 'Motion Picture' is a reminder that he is just as adept at conveying the more melanchoic side. Ultimately, he's a bright new talent with an ear for classic songwriting.
