Danish act Diefenbach received praise on an international level for their second album 'Run Trip Fall'. Yet whilst that record established them, the sheer eclecticism was often confusing. Third album 'Set & Drift' redresses that balance and is the sound of a band firmly establishing their own identity on one of the best indie-pop albums of the year. Whether throwing up big, colourful choruses ('Glorious') or haunting modern takes on Simon And Garfunkel ('Streetlights'), this time Diefenbach sound like an urgent, tight little unit. The killer moments occur towards the middle of the record where dreamily romantic pop nuggets 'It's Only Love' and 'The Right One' are separated by the more muscular 'The Rocket' and 'Bruising My Eyes'. Yet it's tough to cherry-pick on a record where virtually every track possesses a nagging hook and a memorable vocal.
