The Beauty Room seem manifested from a dream where Stevie Wonder meets The Blue Nile. This may seem like a bold statement to make for a duo made up from distinctly modest origins (both vocalist Jinadu and producer Kirk Degiorgio's early careers have centred around the electronic dance scene) but this project is aptly named for its mix of classy 70s soul and atmospheric rock music. The vocals are perfectly judged whilst the music is bathed in aural sumptuousness from the subtle, soothing charms of 'Visions Of Joy', to the sensual 'Don't You Know' (actually a cover of a Jan Hammer track), to the Bond theme-in-waiting 'Fortress' and then to the intriguing, mysterious 'The Moment'. Without as much as an average track amongst this gorgeous selection of music, The Beauty Room have produced the finest debut of the year.
