Already Bauer can count on support experience with popular acts such as Snow Patrol and The Ordinary Boys. They don't resemble either group as it happens. Infact, quite bizarrely, Bauer's frontman Greg Matthew's vocals bear alarming similarities to that of Nathan Moore from risible 80s' boy band Brother Beyond. However, through some sweet, innocent-sounding songs they negotiate this hurdle with some style. 'Gone' features a nagging guitar figure and a swish synth melody that seems to be their forte. Likewise, 'Dont You Move' may occupy unfashionable territory but its heartfelt delivery and canny tune suggest they listened to China Crisis in their formative years. It's the best song on an EP, which though promising, does make one wonder how this band would fare in the modern age. Yet, probably because of that, their tastes for the unfashionable makes you want them to succeed even more.
